Since Woodinville hit the Maryland market in February, it was one of our new favorites in the Bourbon category. When Woodinville presented us with samples from their brand new single barrel program, we were hesitant due to the price, but after tasting five different terrific and unique barrels, we were sure that it was a great pick. We loved every single sample they gave us. I cannot say the same for some BIG NAME allocated barrel programs. Can I promise you this is a steal of deal? No, but I can promise you that after you learn their story and crack a bottle you will be delighted and impressed.
Nose: Spice forward with light cigar tobacco, orange peel, nutmeg and cinnamon icing.
Palate: The spice is accented by the alcohol, which is relatively subtle and warming. A splash of water really helps bring out more cinnamon, baking spices, toffee, and rye character on the finish. Sweetness lingers and the finish is long.
THE FIGHTING 69TH
The Fighting 69th brand was created by Chris Leskowicz, a former master blender and taster at famed Bourbon producer and distruptor, Angel's Envy, who made their fame by finishing their whiskey in port barrels. In that regards this Irish Whiskey shares a bit of DNA, with the spirit being aged in a combination of ex-Bourbon, Port and Sherry Casks. This is a super smooth and delightfully easy to drink dram, that is great for the novice whiskey drinker, but complex enough for the aficionado to enjoy. The name of the whiskey comes from the famed Civil War regiment, one of the oldest and most honored units in the US military and which still exists today.

STRAIGHT RYE WHISKEY
This is a fantastic rye whiskey produced in Kentucky, the Pikesville brand dates back to 1895 in Maryland. On the nose, this whiskey delivers some dusty spice aromas, followed by sweet vanilla & caramel scents. On the palate this is a fruity, then wonderfully spicy rye with a vanilla-cinnamon finish.
